Survive

So stand up and speak out about what everyone thinks
Some topics just don't seem worth mentioning
Like they’d fade away if you ignore them long enough
Let me tell you, that's just the way how things get rough
While all those people are living their pretty little lives
But you can’t see the abyss if you close your eyes
While all those people are living their pretty little lies
Like it’s the only way to survive
When you’re young everything appears in black and white
As you grow older it’s between grey and grey you decide
I guess we adapt to circumstances
And we learn to focus on ourselves
Maybe we take a second to look beyond our path
But there’s no time, no strength to get involved
While all those people are living their pretty little lives
But you can’t see the abyss if you close your eyes
While all those people are living their pretty little lies
Like it’s the only way to survive
So tell me, how can there be change if we don’t change the way we act
How can we expect a happy ending if we don’t play our part?
Shutting our mouths and looking away, we’re all at fault
Still something you can do, speak up
While all those people are still living their pretty little lives
But you can see the abyss if you open your eyes
While all those people are still living their pretty little lies
Like it’s the only way to survive

Corrupt
05:10
|
|||
Climb up the ladder
And leave as many behind,
To make something of yourself,
To serve all mankind.
At least that’s what you tell yourself
When it gets dark at night.
Never seen one of that kind
Having trouble with an alibi
There’s only one reason for starting a war
You already have enough but still think you need more
And it’s no secret that every man wants his prize
That’s how it’s always been, that’s how it’s gonna be
You gotta find your way
To gain the most from it
There is one thing worth killing for
For which it’s justified
One thing to change you
With all of its might
One currency
For which we’re all corrupt
Worth more than money or dignity
Worth more than it should
We are all corrupt
For Power
We’re all corrupt
More than we should be
Brings out the best or the worst in you
I say only the second part is true
And I’m tired of always being right
No matter if it destroys you or everything around
The temptation is too great
And everyone is weak
Sometimes
There is one thing worth killing for
For which it’s justified
One thing to change you
With all of its might
One currency
For which we’re all corrupt
Worth more than money or dignity
Worth more than it should
We are all corrupt
For Power
We’re all corrupt
More than is good
We are all corrupt
For Power
We’re all corrupt
More than we should be

Crazy
03:25
|
|||
Will it pay off? Will it play out?
Been making plans for a dozen of weeks now
Can’t eat, can’t sleep, can’t breathe,
My feet bleed from running in circles, round and round
This heavy weight on my shoulders
I can’t wait for it to be all over
And I think I go bolder
With every minute that I’m now scared of the future
So don’t drive yourself crazy
Don’t drive yourself mad
Some things are just out of your hands
And you should make the best of them
What I still can’t wrap my head around:
What, would have, could have been if all the plans had worked out
Would there be something to be ashamed of
Or to be proud of now?
Gotta tell you, it’s kind of frustrating
It’s like chasing my own tail and fail
But I think I’m gonna give myself a little rest now
And let the music play
So don’t drive yourself crazy
Don’t drive yourself mad
Some things are just out of your hands
And you should make the best of them

One Day
04:24
|
|||
Maybe it’s going to be alright again
but it will surely never be the same
The earth spins so fast, never catching breath
but I’ll carry on as long as my feet can carry the weight
Wounds heal and memories fade
but I guess that is why I’m so afraid
‘Cause when it hurts, we know that we’re alive
when beauty and horror go side by side
And it breaks my heart to know you’re gone
We all need to remember that every story must come to its end
One day it won’t matter what I’ve achieved
One day it won’t matter what I believed in
It’s not about me, as much as I wish
It’s only about whose lives I enriched

A Little Truth
05:13
|
|||
I search for something true
I search for something real
I know that everything important has been said before
but this is how I feel
Seems most big things have been done before
and nearly every puzzle piece has been found
but I’m not talking about science or mathematics, no
something that can’t be found in all these statistics
I’m just searching for a little truth
In hope one day it will break through
just searching for a little truth
To change our minds
There are so many promises today
I wish someone would keep
So many bridges that need to be build
but instead we burn the ones we have
I’m just searching for a little truth
In hope one day it will break through
just searching for a little truth
To change our minds
to open our eyes
to save our lives
Our divinity seems to be proven
all the impossibilities we achieved
but I doubt that they will help us in the end
that they made us better visitors on this planet
I’m just searching for a little truth
In hope one day it will break through
just searching for a little truth
To change our minds
to open our eyes
to save our lives

PHI Esslingen, Germany
The Greek letter 'PHI' stands for the golden ratio in mathematics, arts and architecture. In this sense, the band combines soul, funk and rock into a fusion that finds its roots in indie rock. This sounds familiar and yet somehow completely different. Handmade, self-written songs with English lyrics about true-to-life socio-critical snapshots meet emotions and the pure joy of playing. ... more
